CUSTOM-MADE WHELPING BOXES            

In planning our first litter, a major concern of mine was the whelping box.  I didn't like the boxes that were available for purchase.  Most are made from heavy-duty cardboard.  They were also expensive, and didn't have some features I really wanted.  My husband is a very good carpenter who designed our box.  I wanted it to be easily cleaned, made of wood but "encased" in Formica, insulated off the floor, with a cleanable but non-slip "pretty" flooring, removable pig rail, and that could be sectioned off as the puppies grew and so that the dam could "escape"  on occasion.  I also wanted a non-skid ramp so the puppies could easily climb out as they grew.   Although heavy-duty, it can be disassembled for easy storage.  This is a must for breeders.
